General Info

Big storm yesterday hit town, possible tornado, trees and roof damage, heavy rain -- cooled things off. Look for highs in the 50s and 60s this week with some sun.

Madison River

Flow from Hebgen Dam is holding staying around 1030 cfs. Still some Spruce moths hanging around, hopper and flying ants continue to be the main attraction.

Morrish Hopper 10-14, Baby Grand Hopper 14-16, Para Hopper 10-14, Spring Creek Hopper 14, Twisted Sister Tan 14, Deer Hair Ant, Royal Wulff 12-16.

Gallatin River

The Gallatin is probably muddy below Taylor Fork after the rain yesterday, should be clear in the Park. Hoppers, flying ants and a few Spruce Moths. Look for some Baetis to start. Couple of Grizz have been frequenting the area between Speciman Creek and Black Butte - bring your bear spray and stay alert.

HOH Honey Ant, Water Wasp, Flying Black ant, Twisted Baby Yellow 14-16, Twisted Sister brown 14, Morrish Gold Hopper 10-14, Para Hopper 10-14, Baby Grand 16.

Lakes

Hebgen – Full. The tricos and callibaetis hatches have been great this year, look for a little later start this week due to the cooler weather. Best flies Callibaetis Para Spinner, Challenged Callibaetis and Poxy Back CB nymph.

Quake Lake - Try the same flies as Hebgen

Henry's Lake – no report

Yellowstone Park

No new fishing regs for the Park this year, just remember "All Barbless".

Road Construction from Madison Jct to Norris will continue this season with 30 minute delays, night closings 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. At this point they don't expect to close the road in August or September like they did last year. This is the completion of the project that was started 7 or 8 years ago.

Lamar and Soda are off color from the rain yesterday, should clear in a couple. Hoppers, ants, beetles, look for some baetis.

Yellowstone - hopper dropper, caddis -- look for baetis.

Seeing a few bigger fish in the Madison and the Firehole is cooling down -- should pick up this week.

Tan Yuba Caddis 14-16, CDC Tan Caddis emerger 14-18. Yellow Stim 10-14, Morrish Hopper 10-14, Para Hopper, Berretts Golden Hopper, BH PT, Red Headed Step Child 14-16, Girdle Bugs 8-12.

Henry's Fork

Flows have stabilized around 900 cfs this past week so fishing should pick back up.

The Railroad Ranch should pick back up, keep the ants and beetles handy along with hoppers. Start looking for baetis and mahogany duns. Caddis Spent Wing, Yuba Emerger, Henryville Specials and CDC Caddis Emergers. BWO Para Quill 16-20, H&L Varients 18-20, Mahogany Sparkle Dun, CDC Para Mahogany Dun 14-16.
