Clothing
Warm and Dry! Cool and Comfortable! That's the name of the game. Nothing can ruin a day of fishing faster than a sudden downpour, plunging temperatures or howling wind. On the other hand if it's hot and the sun is taking it's toll you need another kind of protection. Protection from the elements gives you a fighting chance and makes a day on the water more enjoyable.
The key to staying warm, dry and comfortable is to utilize layering techniques along with some of today's modern fabrics. Understanding "moisture management" is a key factor. An under-layer next to the skin that wicks perspiration away will help keep you warm even when wet. The second, provides insulation, but also serves to move moisture further away from the skin. The third (and/or fourth) provides protection from the elements, be it wind, rain or snow.
Sun-protective clothing offers another way to protect skin from the harmful effects of the sun. Sun-protective fabrics differ from typical summer fabrics in several ways: they typically have a tighter weave or knit and are usually darker in color. Sun-protective clothes have a label listing the garment's Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) value, that is, the level of protection the garment provides from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays. The higher the UPF, the higher the protection from the sun's UV rays.
Bud Lilly's Trout Shop brings you some great functional and technical clothing no matter what the weather.
