Fly fishing the Henry's Fork River in Idaho offers a variety options. From the rumbling waters of the Box Canyon to the "spring creek like" Ranch to the winding flow of the Warm River stretch.
The Warm River to Ashton section provides early to mid-May action with Salmon Flies and Caddis. By June the attention turns to PMDs, Golden Stones and Caddis.
The upper Henry's Fork, including the Box Canyon opens the Saturday of Memorial weekend. Here, if the timing is right is another shot at the Salmon Flies.
The Box holds a substantial number of big Rainbows, just waiting to attack a well placed rubber legs.
Below the Box is the Famed Harriman Ranch section of the Henry's Fork. The Ranch is noted for it's spring creek like flows, prolific insect hatches and big 'Bows'. The Ranch opens the 15th of June with PMDs and Caddis the standard fare. By the end of June the Green and Brown Drakes are usually on the water along with PMDs and Caddis.
In July the Flavs are added to the mix along with ants, beetles and hoppers.
